Many immigrants avoid applying for programs like Medicaid and SNAP due to fear and misinformation. The Herlinda Project aims to equip immigration attorneys with clear, up-to-date guidance on public charge policy and safety net programs.
Speaker Bio:
Annie MartÃnez, Litigation Director- Colorado Center on Law & Policy (CCLP)
Annie is a first-generation Cuban American from Hialeah, Florida. They graduated from law school in 2014, and shortly thereafter, moved to Colorado to practice law. Prior to joining CCLP Annie's practice has centered around advocating and supporting indigent communities in criminal, civil and immigration law. Providing zealous representation in both English and Spanish, they have extensive courtroom experience, and completed the Colorado Mediation training program, providing mediation in both languages. Now as litigation director, Annie directs impact litigation as well as policy advocacy across a variety of areas. In addition to their law degree, Annie is completing a doctorate in public policy & administration at West Chester University, as part of their commitment to activism for justice and social change.
