Bench-Bar Committee Courtroom Chat Series– Attorney’s Fee Agreements and the Colorado Consumer Protection Act

Thursday, February 12, 2026
7:30 a.m. - 8:20 a.m.
Via Zoom Only
Take advantage of this great opportunity to learn about a new Colorado law which directly impacts your law office’s attorney’s fee agreements and the disclosures required to all current and prospective clients. The topic arises due to the Colorado Legislature's passage of House Bill 25-1090 (codified as C.R.S. § 6-1-737), which went into effect on January 1, 2026. Specifically, this new law requires that any person, including attorneys, offering services must prominently disclose the total price of services or provide an explanation that the total price cannot reasonably be known at the time services are offered due to factors, which must be clearly and conspicuously described, that will determine the total price. Failure to comply may subject the service provider to damages under the Colorado Consumer Protection Act, which include treble damages and attorney's fees. This presentation will be led by Denver business attorney Herrick K. Lidstone, Jr., who has published an extensive paper on this new law. This presentation, like all Courtroom Chats, will occur in a casual “roundtable” format in which attendees are encouraged to ask questions and participate in a dialogue with the presenters.
