*** Save the Date Law Week Breakfast with Karen Mathis

ABA President Karen Mathis will join the YLD- DBA as we kick-off Law Week. She will speak on this year’s Law Week topic: Liberty Under Law: Empowering Youth, Assuring Democracy. Please join us on April 30, 2007 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. Location and other details to follow.
***Winter Festival***
Winter Festival is January 27, 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM, at the Denver Department of Human Services, 1200 Federal Blvd. This event provides gifts to Denver-area foster children, giving them an opportunity to celebrate the holidays. Interested in donating? Please collect NEW sporting equipment; books; stuffed animals and toys at your firm or office for delivery to the DBA offices, 1900 Grant Street, 9th Floor. ***Legal Night ***
Legal Night is a program that provides free legal and referral information to residents in the community regarding issues of immigration, employment, housing, consumer, family law and other various other legal issues. It is held at Mi Casa Resource Center for Women (360 Acoma Street) on the third Tuesday of every month from 5:30 to 8 p.m. (so it will be Feb. 20) and at Centro San Juan Diego (2830 Lawrence Street) on the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30 to 8 p.m. (so it will be Feb. 7). No experience is necessary and dinner is provided. For information about volunteering at either Legal Night as an attorney or Spanish-English translator, e-mail Alison Butler Daniels at

***Barristers After Hours***

*** DU Alumni and YLD Hockey Night***
The University of Denver and the Young Lawyers Divisions of the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations are hosting the 7th annual hockey night on Friday, February 2, 2007. The reception starts at 6:00 and the game starts at 7:30. $20 will buy you food, three drink tickets and a hockey ticket. It will not, however, pay for your parking. We look forward to seeing you all there!
***Attorneys' Night Out - Save the Date!***
The Denver Bar Association Young Lawyers' Division will join forces with the Legal Center for People with Disabilities and Older People for the Second Annual Attorneys' Night Out on April 26, 2007, from 5:30 - 9:00 at the Blake Street Tavern. Attorneys' Night Out raises awareness of the legal needs of older people and those in our community with disabilities. In addition, the event is an exceptional networking opportunity and fund raiser for the Legal Center. Attendees will enjoy free beers, appetizers and the unique experience of touring the Flying Dog Brewery. More details to follow. Please save the date on your calendar!
