*** Vote NO on Amendment 40 Happy Hour- an event for all young professionals***
On October 11, 2006, the DBA- YLD is hosting a happy hour for all young professionals in the Denver Metropolitan Area in order to provide information on Amendment 40 to voting members of the community. The event will be held at Palomino Restaurant located at 15th and Arapahoe from 5:30- 7:30. Please bring your non-lawyer friends, as well as your lawyer friends. The DBA-YLD will buy everyone two drinks and light appetizers. There will be speakers and printed information on Amendment 40 and why the DBA-YLD supports a NO vote. ***Lawsuit Days***
Its that time again. The DBA-YLD is hosting Law Suit Days on October 12-13 from 11 am- 3 pm. We are seeking the collection of business suits and other professional clothing. Our goal is to collect 1,000 articles of clothing (gently used please) including business suits and other professional attire. We will donate the items to two charitable organizations, Dress for Success Denver (Women's Clothing) and Denver Works (Men's Clothing). These charities distribute the clothing free of charge to low income and disadvantaged unemployed individuals in the community. The professional clothes can give men and women the self-confidence and self-esteem needed for success on job interviews. The table for this event will be manned by a number of volunteer lawyers on October 12 and 13 from 11am – 3pm. Please contact David Uhlig at uhligd@ballardspahr.com or (303) 292-2400.

Tickets are on sale now for the 13th annual Wine & Beer Tasting to benefit Legal Aid Foundation of Colorado. Held in conjunction with Denver Bar Associations’ Young Lawyers Division, this year’s Latin-Flavored Fiesta will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at La Rumba (99 W 9th Avenue). Join us for fine wines from South America, Latin America, Spain and Portugal plus fun food and friends and don’t forget to bid on fabulous silent auction items. Tickets are $35, $40 at the door, and $25 for Young Lawyers. ***Legal Night at Mi Casa***
Legal Night at Mi Casa Resource Center for Women is held the third Tuesday of every month, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Mi Casa is located at 360 Acoma Street. We need volunteers. Clients have issues such as: immigration, family, employment, housing, or general contract law, if you have experience in these areas or any areas of law and would like to volunteer, please contact Allison Butler Daniels at 303.298.9878 or alisonbdaniels@hotmail.com. Since many of the individuals we counsel are Spanish-speaking, we also need English- Spanish translators.
