Wheels of Justice Kickoff Party–Thursday, June 5 at 5:30 p.m.
Enjoy complimentary food and drink as you hear stories of hope and courage from patients, families, and doctors of Children‘s Hospital Colorado‘s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. New Clinic on Collecting Child Support
The DBA Access to Justice Committee will be providing a training for the presenters of the newly created “How to Collect Child Support” public clinic. This clinic is a great way to get involved with the Denver community, gather information, and teach basic techniques for collecting support. The training will take place on June 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.at DBA offices. One CLE credit has been applied for. Contact Meghan Bush to register.

Federal Practice Update 2014—Friday, June 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Co-sponsored by the Federal Bar Association and the CBA Litigation Section

The 2014 annual Federal Practice program provides updates on changes and emerging issues in federal court. It also gives practice tips and in such areas as: eDiscovery, ethics, third-party subpoenas, local rules, and removal. Also, judges share their thoughts on what work, and doesn’t work in their courtrooms and for a federal civil court practice. This program will help you to be “smarter” and more effective in evaluating a case, writing a brief, preparing for trial or a hearing, and trying a case in federal court. Register now!

Working with Clients with Diminished Capacity: Rule 1.14 and Beyond—Thursday, June 26, 8 a.m. to Noon
The normal client–lawyer relationship is based on the assumption that your client is capable of making decisions about important matters. Questions arise when you suspect your client has diminished capacity and is at substantial risk of physical, financial, or other harm if nothing is done, and cannot act in his or her own interest. Recognizing the signs of diminished capacity, and understanding the unique ethical and practical decisions that arise, are critical to providing competent representation. Find out more!

DBA Waterman Fund Seeks Applicants for Administrators—deadline to apply is Friday, June 27
The DBA Waterman Trust Fund is seeking two attorneys to serve as a DBA administrators to assist in managing the fund. The fund was established to assist members of the bar who are “aged, infirmed, or otherwise incapacitated” and financially needy. Click here for more information on the Waterman Fund. Denver B-cycle, Denver’s bike-sharing program, has 84 bike stations located throughout Denver for easy transportation around the city.
