May Coffee Talk: Client Advocacy—Thursday, May 22
Young lawyers, you’ve learned a lot of law and are settling into practice. But how adept are you at performing an attorney’s usual functions? On May 22, Jon Fero, Assistant Solicitor General in the Colorado Attorney General’s Office will help you become a better counselor and advocate in all aspects of your work. Whether you routinely sign documents or help the partner shine, Jon will share time-tested strategies honed from his extensive litigation, appellate, and general counsel experience that can be applied to a wide variety of tasks and help you maximize your clients’ interests. Seeking ABA Delegate Representatives—Deadline to Apply is June 1
The CBA will soon have two vacancies in its delegation to the ABA House of Delegates. DBA Golf Tournament on Monday, June 2—Special Pricing for Young Lawyers
Join us for the annual Henry Hall Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, June 2, at Inverness Golf Club in Englewood. DBA YLD members receive a special registration rate of $85, that’s a savings of $35 per player. The fee includes lunch, snack following play, greens fees, range balls, and cart. A buffet lunch and range balls will begin at 12:30 p.m., with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun to follow. June Coffee Talk: Colorado Special Education Law—Thursday, June 26
The presentation will provide information on The Rules for Administration of The Protection of Persons from Restraint Act created by the Colorado Department of Education. We will discuss state seclusion and restraint laws and policies for schools and where Colorado stands nationally. We will also discuss some case examples and the results of The Legal Center’s project and data collection around restraint and seclusion in Colorado public schools. Denver Legal Night is an open house where volunteer attorneys provide free legal and referral information to people who cannot afford legal services. Areas of law addressed commonly include Immigration, Family, Criminal, Housing, Consumer and bankruptcy, and Employment.

DBA Waterman Fund Seeks Applicants for Administrators—deadline to apply is Friday, June 27
The DBA Waterman Trust Fund is seeking two attorneys to serve as a DBA administrators to assist in managing the fund. The fund was established to assist members of the bar who are “aged, infirmed, or otherwise incapacitated” and financially needy. Click here for more information on the Waterman Fund.
