Mediation Basics: Learn to be Effective in Mediation—Thursday, Feb. 27

Learn how to choose the mediator best for your client and his or her situation. Teddi Ann Barry also discuss how to best prepare for mediation and focus on the fix instead of the fight. Barry is a Family Law attorney and mediator with offices in Denver and Avon. With the tagline of Saving Children and Restructuring Families, Barry’s practice is focused on resolution and finding ways to keep her clients out of court—successful mediation is key. Book Drive—March 10–14

You will learn: discovery management and best practices; pros and cons of various discovery mechanisms (i.e., requests for admission, requests for production, and depositions); strategic and cost-effective use of discovery; key differences between the Colorado and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure; and how to avoid traps for the unwary. Denver Legal Night is an open house where volunteer attorneys provide free legal and referral information to people who cannot afford legal services. Areas of law addressed commonly include Immigration, Family, Criminal, Housing, Consumer and bankruptcy, and Employment.
