Legal Services Civil Legal Aid Panel CLE—Monday, July 22
The Legal Services Corporation Board of Directors is convening chief justices, justices and judges from the region on Monday, July 22, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Ralph Carr Judicial Center. The first panel will be moderated by former ABA President and current LSC Board Member Robert Grey, and will address access to justice issues as they relate to the judiciary, particularly those that stem from pro se litigants. The second panel will be moderated by LSC President Jim Sandman, and will include regional Executive Directors from LSC-funded programs to discuss legal services in the Mountain West region. Davis Award Nominations Sought—Deadline Sept. 1
Nominations are invited for the 2013 Richard Marden Davis Award to honor attorneys “under the age of 40 who have demonstrated excellence as a lawyer and leadership in Denver’s civic, educational, and charitable activities.” The award was established by Davis Graham & Stubbs, the family of Dick Davis, former DBA President, and the Denver Bar Foundation in 1992 to recognize successful and community-minded young attorneys in private and public practice, and to inspire new members of the Denver legal community. Senior Law Day is a community event supported by the CBA, CBA-CLE, the CBA Trust and Estate and Elder Law Sections, and several law firms and organizations. The event in Denver will attract more than 1,000 seniors, adult children, and caregivers. Volunteers are needed for registration, directing guests, and other tasks.
