State Judicial Begins Amending Forms to Comply with New Civil Procedure Rule Changes
Colorado State Judicial has begun issuing forms that have been amended to comply with the new civil procedure rules adopted as part of Rule Change 2011(18), effective as of Jan. 1. The changes are being made to time calculation requirements in the forms, which now must reflect the "rule of 7" or multiples of a week. Read more here.

Filing Fees Temporarily Reduced in Certain Civil Actions
CJD 12-02 temporarily decreases filing fees credited to the Justice Stabilization Fund. According to Colorado Revised Statutes, cash funds must maintain no more than a 16 percent excess fund balance, and it is projected that the fund will exceed this target reserve limit.

Mock Trial Volunteers Needed at Denver Center for International Studies
Attorney volunteers are needed to help Denver Center for International Studies with their High School Mock Trial Program. It is a flexible time commitment for two to six months. Attorneys work directly with the teacher coach and students of the high school mock trial team. Attorneys offer clarification of the legal matters of the case, strategies for presentation, use of evidentiary material, and general insight into the legal issues involved and courtroom procedure. The time commitment varies from one to two hours a week for two months to a much greater amount of time, depending on the attorney's availability. Practices usually take place/are held after school, in the evenings or on weekends, depending on the attorney’s schedule and workload. Contact Carolyn Gravit for more information.
