Sell Raffle Tickets for Barristers Ball
Volunteers are needed to sell raffle tickets for the Barristers Benefit Ball. Raffle tickets are just $10 and include fabulous prizes such as; a two-night stay at a Beaver Creek condo: an iPad; or Twist Express Giant’s Hybrid Cycling Technology (a battery-based energy bicycle). You don’t have to attend the Ball to win. Proceeds from the raffle and the Ball benefit Metro Volunteer Lawyers. Volunteers must be DBA members. For more information, please contact Denise Lynch at

Denver Warm Welcome Court Child Care Center
The Denver Warm Welcome Court Child Care Center is in need of cold-weather accessories for children between the ages of 6 weeks and 12 years. The Denver Warm Welcome Court Child Care Center has been in operation since May 1999. Each year, the Center serves more than 1,700 children whose parents or guardians have business with the Denver County and District Courts. Many of the clients have been called for jury duty and need child care assistance while they complete their civic duty. The Denver Warm Welcome Court Child Care Center is operated by Mile High Montessori Early Learning Centers, a nonprofit child care agency in the Denver metro area. The Center is fully licensed as a small child care center by the state of Colorado. Please drop off your donations, either gently used or new, at the Center or at the Bar Association, Attn: Heather Clark, 1900 Grant St., Suite 900, Denver.

Trust and Estate Luncheon Series: Estate Planning for Blended Families, March 1, With Speaker Laurie A. Hunter of Wade, Ash, Woods, Hill & Farley, PC.
Couples in second (or subsequent) marriages have special estate planning needs. This program will address the issues unique to blended families: joint representation and conflicts of interest; examples of plans that try to balance spouse and children; statutory rights of surviving spouse that can defeat the plan; trying to minimize conflict over financial interests between spouse and children; planning for remarriage of spouse and effect on children's interests; tangible personal property: the emotional items; a place to live: options for planning with the principal residence; and the effect of nonprobate transfers: joint tenancy and beneficiary designations.
