Fourth Annual DBA K–5 Law Day Art Contest
Do you have a child in grades K–5 who may have an interest in the law and definitely has a skill with the crayons? Then we’ve got a contest for you! John Adams was a champion for independence, but it his legacy of commitment to the rule of law that makes him the perfect inspiration for this year’s Fourth Annual Denver Bar Association K–5 Law Day Art Contest.

John Adams’ role in the 1770 Boston Massacre trials, where he defended the British soldiers accused of killing five civilians, is regarded as a noteworthy example of the importance of defending the rights of the accused, even in cases where advocates represent unpopular clients and become involved in matters that generate public controversy. We’re looking for poster submissions that best capture his legacy. Winners will receive a gift card to Target! Deadline is March 1. For details about submissions, please contact Meghan Bush at or 303-824-5303.
CLE Programs
CLE: 3rd Annual Private Equity Conference, Jan. 21. There still is time to register!
Equity and debt markets that have been substantially frozen since the fall of 2008 have begun to thaw. Valuations across asset classes have stabilized and started to rise and new funds are being raised and financial and strategic buyers are becoming more active again. Private equity deals may have changed shape from earlier years, but they are helping to drive the investment markets again. Join your colleagues and the West's dealmakers—private equity executives, LPs, investment bankers, financial professionals, and corporate dealmakers—to hear a wide-ranging interdisciplinary discussion of these and other topics.
Transfer Tax Reform: The Impact of the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010, Jan. 27
Program highlights for this important update include: Overview of the 2010 Act; Dealing with Estates of 2010 Decedents; What To Do Now? Testamentary Perspective; What To Do Now? Inter vivos Planning; GST Implications; and a Panel Discussion/Q&A Session with our experienced panel of trust and estate attorneys.
