*** Judging party at Holland & Hart for student art, essays, May 16
The CBA members of Gov. Ritter’s Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission issued a call for help, for Saturday, May 16, 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. to judge 450 submissions of student art and writings from around the state. Set-up help also is needed ahead of time in the weeks or hours before the judging party. Recruit a friend— 25-30 volunteers are needed. Help also is sought to prepare for the statewide awards ceremony in June (date TBD), with speakers, invitations, certificates, publicity, etc. Contact Thorvald Nelson at (303) 290-1601 or tnelson@hollandhart.com.

More than 600 generous donors attended the 2009 Barristers Benefit Ball on Friday, April 24 at the Hyatt Regency Denver Convention Center. We couldn’t have done it without your support. Congrats again to the MVL Honorees Frances Fontana, Bryon Large and Gerry Hernandez, as well as MVL staff member Patricia Trujillo who has worked for MVL for 20 years. The DBA and BBB committee also honored the late Barbara Quade for her dedication and volunteer work for MVL.

Magistrate Alan Bucholtz from Denver County Court will teach the basics of small claims matters on Wednesday, May 6, 3–5 p.m. at Centro de San Juan Diego, 2830 Lawrence St. No cost.
