Tuesday, May 19 – Attorney–Client Communications in Colorado
This lunch will discuss pertinent Colorado Rules of Professional Conduct regulating attorney–client communications, highlighting rules revised in 2008, including Rules 1.4 (communications), 1.13 (communicating with an entity client) and 1.6 (confidentiality). Professor Eli Wald also will discuss other laws regulating communications, such as revised Colorado Rule of Civil Procedure 227. One CLE ethics credit.
Tuesday, May 26 – Office Sharing
Attorney Erich Bethke and firm administrator Kristi River, both of the firm Canges, Iwashko, Bethke & Bailey, will offer insights and suggestions for successful office sharing arrangements. Their law firm has long used office sharing in ways that have benefitted both the firm and tenants. Topics of discussion include: finding good candidates for office sharing; space and technological considerations; use of common resources; financial and lease arrangements; confidentiality and client considerations. One general CLE credit.

*** DBA-DPS Guest Teacher Program featured on Channel 7!
In case you missed the story by ABC-affiliate Denver’s KMGH Channel 7 Reporter Lance Hernandez, here it is! The 3-minute TV news spotlight and article online profiles our DBA-DPS Guest Teacher initiative, whereby 180 attorneys, judges and legal professionals are going into the classrooms to fill in when teachers are absent. Also, The Denver Post front page on April 1 featured DBA President Mark Fogg, with a photo of him teaching fourth grade students at Greenlee K-8 School. A big thanks go out to all who are participating to make the initiative a success!

More than 600 generous donors attended the 21st Annual Barristers Benefit Ball on Friday, April 24 at the Hyatt Regency Denver Convention Center. “We are really proud of all our peers in the legal community for supporting MVL and the important legal services they offer,” said John T. Baker, co-chair of the BBB committee and president-elect of the Denver Bar Association. “We are humbled by the generosity of our loyal patrons and all the individuals who donated.” Congrats again to the MVL Honorees Frances Fontana, Bryon Large and Gerry Hernandez, as well as MVL staff member Patricia Trujillo who has worked for MVL for 20 years. The DBA and BBB committee also honored the late Barbara Quade for her dedication and volunteer work for MVL.
