*** Pro Bono Spotlight
Metro Volunteer Lawyers needs a family law attorney to help a hearing impaired client file for divorce. The parties were married in August 2006 and separated on July 29, 2007. They have a home with minimal equity and there are no children of the marriage. If you are interested in helping this client, contact Patricia Trujillo at (303) 866-9307 or patt@denbar.org. MVL also needs attorneys who are willing to take post-decree cases.

*** Common Law Marriage
Colorado is one of about a dozen states that still recognize common law marriage, or marriage without formal ceremony. This CBA–CLE program, Feb. 27, 8:55 a.m.–4:45 p.m., will cover the latest case law updates in areas including child support, insurance, and divorce. Register online: Common Law Marriage.

*** Run The Republic!
Join the Denver Bar Association staff at the “Run the Republic” fundraising event on Feb. 24. This annual stair-climbing competition is held in the largest building in Denver — soaring 53 stories. “Run the Republic” raises funds for lung health issues. Lung disease is the third-leading cause of death in the U.S. Monies raised by this event can help stop this trend. Invite your colleagues, friends and family to join you in this challenge. Get in shape and start the new year off right by supporting a worthy cause. Click here to register. The registration fee is $35 and you are encouraged to raise additional funds, but this is not required. For more information, contact Catherine McHughs at cmchughs@cobar.org or (303) 860-1115.

*** Available from CLE Books (order online!)
