*** More than 300 Smiling Denver School Kids Say Thanks DBA!
Last Sunday, Aug. 13, the DBA Community Action Network distributed more than 300 backpacks filled with school supplies to less-fortunate and homeless school children at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. When the DBA CAN Committee put out the word, donations from individuals, law firms and other organizations poured in. Through these generous donations, the help of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and the efforts of many attorney volunteers (some who drafted their own children to help sort and stuff), we were able to treat the children to a VIP day at the Museum. Thanks again to everyone who participated in this program.

*** Find the Money to Pay for Marketing Initiatives
Is there enough money in your marketing budget to pay for the initiatives that will further your law firm’s strategic plan? Find out at the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Legal Marketing Association’s next program on Sept. 12, 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m., in the Sage Room of The Oxford Hotel, 1600 17th St.

*** Hanging Your Shingle
This seminar will provide a tremendous amount of valuable information whether or not you intend to open your own practice. It will be a two-day intensive workshop on opening your own law firm co-sponsored by the Professional Liability Committee and the Solo & Small Firm Section of the CBA. If you own or are planning on owning a business, this is the most important seminar you will ever attend. Register online: Hanging Your Shingle, Aug. 17 & 18, 2006.

*** Legal Assistance for Veterans
The Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Program is seeking volunteer lawyers to assist veterans who claim entitlement to VA benefits. Volunteers will receive free training, a veterans law manual, a pre-screened case and ongoing access to a mentor lawyer. In addition, training will be offered on Friday, Oct. 27. CLE is available. For more information on the program, call Meg Bartley at (202) 265-8305, ext. 110. To register, call Sue Pledger at (303) 894-6125.
