*** Pro Bono Spotlight
Metro Volunteer Lawyers needs a landlord/tenant attorney to help a client who has been locked out of a basement apartment she was renting. When the landlord started locking the fence gate at 10 p.m. (even if the client wasn’t home), the client told him she was looking for another place to live. The landlord then locked the client out of the apartment and will not let her retrieve her belongings. If you are interested in helping this client, contact Patricia Trujillo at (303) 866-9307 or patt@denbar.org.

*** The 2008 Colorado Legal Directories have been shipped!
As an exclusive benefit of the Denver Bar Association, each member receives one complimentary copy of the directory. If you haven’t received your copy by Dec. 17, contact the DBA Membership Services Department at membership@cobar.org. If you notice any mistakes or omissions in your listing, call (303) 584-6722 or e-mail CoLegalDirectory@mcgraw-hill.com. For more information, visit www.denbar.org.

*** Health and the Holidays
The bar association staff truly appreciates the thoughtful and generous gifts and goodies we receive from members and vendors during the holiday season. In the true spirit of the season, we’d like to encourage the bar association’s commitment to philanthropy by suggesting donations to a favorite charity in lieu of sending gifts to the Bar staff.

In addition, several staff members at the bar association have formed an informal “wellness committee” and will focus on promoting health and wellness to Bar staff and members. Look for healthier meal options at member meetings in 2008. Here’s to a happy and healthy new year!

*** Advanced Cross-Examination Techniques
This CBA–CLE program on Dec. 14, 9 a.m.–4 p.m., features nationally renowned presenters Roger Dodd and Larry Pozner. Dodd and Pozner will profoundly change how you operate in the courtroom. Register online: Advanced Cross-Examination Techniques.

*** Photo Competition
Enter your best snapshot in the Community Action Network’s Photo Contest. The photo contest will be held in connection with CAN's Snow Carnival, Feb. 7, at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Entries are due Jan. 25. Entry fee is $5 per photo. Entries will be judged on artistry and adherence to the theme of "Childhood Challenges and Changes." Two top prizes of $250, one in the adult division and one in the children’s division (12 & under), will be given. Second-place and third-place prizes will be awarded in each category. Winning photographs will be displayed at the Snow Carnival and will be published in The Docket. Contact Jacqueline Ensminger, je_minger@hotmail.com, for more information.

*** Seniors Holiday Party
Don’t forget! The DBA Seniors Committee Holiday Party will be Friday, Dec. 14, noon, at the DBA Offices, 1900 Grant St., ninth floor. Enjoy the hot food and holiday cheer. RSVP to Tara Miller, tmiller@cobar.org, by Monday, Dec. 10. Cost is $12.
