*** High School Mock Trial Tournament — Mark Your Calendars!
The Denver Regional High School Mock Trial Tournament will be Feb. 22–23, 2008, at the U.S. Bankruptcy Courthouse. More than 100 teams statewide will be competing for a spot in the Colorado Bar Association State High School Tournament, which will be March 14–15, 2008. You are invited to score or judge one or more rounds at a time that fits your schedule. For more information or to volunteer, contact Carolyn Gravit, (303) 824-5323 or cgravit@cobar.org.

*** The All New Ethics Revue
Raise your awareness on a variety of ethical issues while watching a musical extravaganza, Oct. 24, matinee or dinner show. The cast of über-talented attorneys will use a unique combination of wit, song and commentary to keep you laughing and learning the entire show. Register online: The All New Ethics Revue.

*** A Helpful Resource from the Office of Legislative Legal Services
The Office of Legislative Legal Services, legal counsel for the Colorado General Assembly, maintains a website, www.state.co.us/gov_dir/leg_dir/olls, that offers resources about legislation, members of the state legislature, links to audio broadcasting of legislative proceedings, and short summaries (digests) of bills that have passed each year since 1994. The OLLS website also offers several publications, including legal memoranda and law summaries. The "Colorado Revised Statutes" tab under the left-hand menu of options on the site has been enhanced to include "Analyses of Acts with Multiple Articles." This index provides a listing of all of the section numbers and headnotes comprising those statutory acts spanning more than one article in a given title. If you have additional questions about legislation, legislative history or the General Assembly, contact the Office of Legislative Legal Services at (303) 866-2045.

*** Lawyers League Basketball
Lawyers League Basketball will kick off the 2007–08 season after Thanksgiving, continuing through early March with the division championships. Team captains from last year will be receiving registration and sign-up information by mid-October. Games likely will be played at the University of Denver. The team entry fee is expected to be between $600 and $750, pending final facility and insurance costs. Contact Todd Jansen at (303) 860-7140 or tjansen@cqclaw.com, or Rob Hooke at (720) 266-1040 or r.hooke@gfhlawfirm.com. Registration deadline is Nov. 9.

*** Judge a Mock Trial at CU Law
CU Law is seeking volunteers to judge a mock trial competition on Friday, Nov. 2, in the evening, or on Saturday, Nov 3, for a morning or afternoon round. This competition simulates a criminal murder trial. Volunteering will help give law students the opportunity to practice real trial skills and will give you the chance to enjoy the "bench" for a couple of hours. Light food will be provided. To volunteer, contact Vernon Ready at vernon.ready@colorado.edu or (720) 201-3802.

Cybersleuth’s Guide to the Internet: Conducting Effective Investigative & Legal Research on the Web demonstrates that there is more to conducting a comprehensive search for information on the Internet than just relying on the results returned by search engines. This book teaches you how to be your own cyber-detective and unearth information for free or at a low cost on the Web. For information, call (303) 860-0608, toll-free (888) 860-2531; or visit www.cobar.org/cle
