Attorneys are needed to staff Lawline 9 on Wednesday, June 6, 4-6:30 p.m., to answer questions about real estate, homeowners associations, landlord-tenant issues and foreclosures. Lawline 9 is a call-in program hosted by the Denver Bar Association and 9News, where attorneys answer questions from the public. If interested, e-mail Meghan Seck at mseck@cobar.org.

*** Fighting for Free Speech in America
This public forum will be Tuesday, May 22, 7:30 p.m. at the Tattered Cover Book Store, 16th Street and Wynkoop, in Denver. Author Chris Finan will discuss his new book, From the Palmer Raids to the Patriot Act: A History of the Fight for Free Speech in America. Fred Brown, Denver Post political columnist, will moderate this free event.

*** Nominees Sought for First Amendment Award
On Constitution Day, Sept. 17, the Colorado Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, in partnership with the Colorado Press Association, will honor individuals or organizations that have exemplified the five freedoms protected in the First Amendment: religion, petition, assembly, speech and the press. Examples of these freedoms should have occurred in Colorado between July 1, 2006 and June 30, 2007. The deadline for entries is July 4.
