State Judicial Amends More Forms to Comply with New Civil Procedure Rules and Fee Changes (Part 3)
Colorado State Judicial continues to issue forms that have been amended to comply with fee changes and the new civil procedure rules adopted as part of Rule Change 2011(18), effective as of January 1, 2012. The changes are being made to time calculation requirements in the forms, which now must reflect the “rule of 7"/multiples of a week. State Judicial is reviewing all JDF forms and instructions; however it is always the parties’ responsibility to ensure compliance with the Supreme Court rules. Click here for more information.

On Monday, January 30, 2012, Governor John Hickenlooper signed SB 12-014, the first bill to emerge from the 2012 General Assembly, into law. The law moves the date for candidates, committees, and political parties to begin filing biweekly campaign finance disclosure reports from the first Monday in July to the first Monday in May. Competitive Intelligence: An Essential Component of Better Law Firm Decision Making
Important law firm decisions should never be made in a vacuum. Instead, they should be made with an abundance of the right information in hand. For many law firm decisions, “the right information” means competitive intelligence. Competitive intelligence is defined as a systematic and ethical program for gathering, analyzing and managing information about the external business environment – information that can affect all of a law firm’s plans, decisions and operations. Go to Legal Connection to read more.

Mac Tip of the Week
How to Assign Apps to Spaces in OSX 10.7 Lion
OSX lets you create multiple desktops (“Spaces” in Apple parlance). You can use one for work apps, one for email or social applications, one for working with PDFs – or any other use you can imagine. You can create up to 18 separate Spaces; although you will probably only use two or three. You can set specific applications to open only in certain spaces, or even to have applications visible in all spaces. However, how you set this up has changed since OSX 10.6 (where you would use System Preferences). In OSX 10.7 Lion, to select the space where an application opens, just do the following:
• Right click (CMD-click) icon in the application dock.
• Go to Options.
• Select which desktop you want the app to launch in (or if you want it in all desktops).
Check out the screenshot for this tip and see more Mac Tips at Planet10Tech.
