Volunteer Opportunities

The Denver Bar Association encourages members to engage in volunteer opportunities that positively affect metro-Denver communities and the Association itself. These Bar programs are designed to provide public legal education and legal services to the public, and professional development and networking opportunities to its members.

Volunteering with any one of these programs combines an attorney’s creativity and expertise to make a difference within the community. With many options available to the busy attorney, the Bar works to fit members into the right volunteer opportunity.

Anyone from the community can benefit from one or more of these programs. For more information about these law-related educational or legal services programs, please contact the Denver Bar Association at 303-860-1115.

Colorado Project Citizen's Showcase

Colorado’s Project Citizen Showcase takes place on May 8 (high school) and May 9 (elementary/middle) at the Colorado State Capitol.  We are hoping to have four lawyer volunteers each day who enjoy talking with students about their ideas for solving a wide range of community problems.  The time commitment is 9:00—11:20 am.  A box lunch is provided following the event.

The format is a legislative simulation and the setting are legislative hearing rooms.  During the showcase, they will interact with three groups of students.   Students will make a ten to fifteen minute presentation about their research on policy solutions to a specific local and state problem.  Volunteers (working in panels of three) will respond with clarifying and probing questions and feedback.

Issues researched this year include several issues involving constitutional, school, and environmental  concerns---healthy eating habits, puppy mills, fracking, homelessness, jail visitation, litter and smoking.

Career Fair

The DBA is looking for an attorney volunteer to help May 9th at EXCEL Academy (an alternative DPS high school) from 11:00 a.m.to 1:00 p.m. for their annual career fair.  The volunteer will answer questions from students as they stop by a table. They are located at 3201 W. Arizona. Please respond to this e-mail if you can help.
