2013 Law Day Art Contest Winners

G

ust Elementary School kindergarten student Jaela French and Cory Elementary School fifth-grader Tyler Silverstein are the winners of the Denver Bar Association’s 6th Annual Law Day Art Contest. Their artwork, on the cover, reflected this year’s Law Day theme, "Realizing the Dream: Equality for All."

Their teachers, Julie Keppler and Judy Pansini, gave a lesson on Law Day and the theme, touching on issues of equality raised by Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr., before students worked on their drawings. The winning artists received a $100 Target gift card, a $50 Meininger Art Supplies gift card, a pizza party for their class from Kaos Pizzeria, and free admission for their class to the Denver Art Museum. Additionally, the DAM will display the winning art pieces in the museum through May.

Above are the art entries the DBA received from students in Denver Public Schools. You also can view the entries online at denbar.org/lawdayart. A special thanks to all who participated.D
