Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons LLP is proud to announce that Pope Benedict XVI has granted Charles Goldberg the Benemerenti ("To a Well Deserving Person") Medal. The award was conferred by Archbishop Charles Chaput during Mass on Nov. 7 at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Goldberg is the first such recipient of this award from outside the Catholic community in more than a quarter century.
Jonathan G. Pray, an associate at the law firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, recently was named to the Historic Denver Inc. Board of Trustees. As a board member, he will help the nonprofit preserve historic structures and neighborhoods in Denver through implementation of programs and oversight of staff. Denver bankruptcy attorney Matt McCune was honored by the Denver Police Department and The Daniels Fund on Oct. 26 for coming to the aid of a woman who was being attacked by her boyfriend. When McCune, who was out walking his dogs, tried to intervene, he was stabbed in the neck. He is recovering and back to work, according to news reports.
Holme Roberts & Owen LLP and Larry Theis, a partner and Chair of HRO’s Executive Committee, were selected as the 2010 leadership competition award winners from the Center for Legal Inclusiveness at its annual roundtable on Nov. 4. Theis implemented an action item that called for his law firm to make inclusiveness a same-level priority as other firm business initiatives. As the competition award winner, Theis’ charity of choice – Make-A-Wish Foundation – received the $5,000 cash award.
