Picture This: DBA Happenings ![]() Judges Win Prestigious AwardApproximately 470 judges, attorneys and community leaders gathered to celebrate the successes of three Colorado judges: Eighth Judicial District Judge James H. Hiatt, Denver County Court Judge Doris E. Burd and 17th Judicial District Magistrate Brian N. Bowen. The Colorado Judicial Institute — dedicated to judicial independence, excellence and education — hosted the Seventh Annual Judicial Excellence Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Denver Marriott City Center Hotel. The keynote speaker was Mary Wilson, president of the League of Women Voters of the United States. Funds raised help provide advanced education and training for Colorado judges and judicial department personnel.
Big Check Cut for The Children’s Hospital
The Wheels of Justice Cycling Team cut The Children’s Hospital a $192,852 check after 177 riders courageously cycled through the Rocky Mountains over the summer. A thank you reception on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at the hospital included the check presentation and a hospital tour for the attendees to see first-hand what their hard work and determination supports. Approximately 50 attendees were there, including riders, doctors and team sponsors. The event recognized the sponsors and all of the dedicated people who helped make the Wheels of Justice Cycling Team a big success for the fourth year in a row. The Courage Classic raised $2.3 million this year for The Children’s Hospital.

Seniors Celebrate Holidays & CareersThe Seniors Committee came out in force for the annual holiday party, Friday, Dec. 4 at the DBA offices. More than 40 people attended the event and enjoyed an Italian buffet and Colorad history quiz. The event concluded with a brieft run-down of what everyone has been up to this past year and what they are planning to achieve during the new year. DBA President John Baker thanked these long-time attorneys and judges for their dedication to the profession.
