Despite threatening weather and some gusty winds, the 2008 Seniors Golf Tournament was a fun and successful event held on July 23 at The Homestead Golf Course in Lakewood. Twenty-five people participated in the tournament, and for the first time in the tournament’s history, five women competed! Here were the winners:

Special recognition goes to Kathleen Rimar who was the first woman to enter into the tournament. She played well and her gross score placed her seventh among all competitors. Had there been a ladies division, she would have won everything!

Congratulations to the 2008 Wheels of Justice cycling team and sponsors! More than 200 riders participated in the Courage Classic three-day ride through the Rocky Mountains July 26 to 28. The team of 201 cyclists has raised more than $240,000 for the Children’s Hospital Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, surpassing goals for both riders and donations. Kate, Emma, Dave and Charlie Greenberg smile and thank the Wheels of Justice riders for supporting the Children's Hospital. Kate participated in the ride, largely because the hospital helped Emma battle leukemia.

Three outstanding attorneys and one judge were recognized as exemplary DBA members at the 2008 Annual Awards Party on June 10 at the Colorado History Museum. Recipients included: Stanton Rosenbaum, Award of Merit; Hon. Russell Carparelli, Judicial Excellence Award; Aaron Bradford, Young Lawyer of the Year Award; and Karen Wheeler, Volunteer Lawyer of the Year Award.

Governor Bill Ritter addressed the Colorado Bar Assocation Leadership Training graduates on June 13 at the Governor’s Mansion. He urged them to continue making their leadership contributions to the legal profession and the community. The event celebrated the graduation of COBALT students from the CBA’s six-month leadership course. Family and friends joined the class members for this occasion.
