GOOD THINGS
On May 5, Gov. Bill Ritter appointed Joseph H. Thibodeau to the Colorado Aeronautical Board, a seven-member body responsible for the development of aviation in Colorado.

McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter announced that law firm partner, Karen J. Mathis, president of the American Bar Association (2006–07), will serve the CEELI Institute in Prague, Czech Republic, as executive director and chief operating officer for a year, commencing Sept. 1.

was named chair of the Anti-Defamation League’s regional board.

Bob Keatinge of Burns, Figa & Will was the recipient of the 2008 Lubaroff Award.

David G. Scott, a Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck associate, was recently named to the America Scores Denver Board of Directors. Martha Fitzgerald Bauer, of counsel at the firm, was recently appointed to the Colorado Women’s Bar Association (CWBA) Board of Directors. John A. Helfrich, an associate, has been named to the American Lung Association of Colorado Board of Directors. C. Suzanne Mencer, a policy director, was recently appointed to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) National Advisory Council (NAC). O'Donnell

The Colorado Trial Lawyers Association presented Michael O’Donnell, chairman of the civil litigation defense firm Wheeler Trigg Kennedy, with an award for “the highest standards of competency, ethics and professionalism.” This is only the seventh time in its 55-year history that the CTLA, whose members are plaintiffs’ attorneys, has given this award to a defense lawyer.

Attorney Dick Reeve was re-elected chairman of the Colorado Lottery Commission. Reeve, who was first elected chairman in 2007, will serve until July 2009.

DBA staff member Brian Willson and his wife Yoon welcomed their first child, a boy named Oscar. He weighed in just below seven pounds and was 20 inches long.

, the chief operating officer of Isaacson Rosenbaum has passed away. Gary was an associate member of the CBA and a former chair of the Mile High Chapter of the ALA.
