On May 15th, at the annual association dinner, Brooke Silverthorn of The Harris Law Firm was unanimously re-elected as vice-president of membership. Holland & Hart attorney James Gonzales won the 2008 Independent Publisher award for the best non-fiction work in the south-east region of the United States.

CHANGES
Holland & Hart and Hale Lane Peek Dennison and Howard announced that the firms will combine forces. Hale Lane is one of the largest and most highly regarded Nevada law firms, and Holland & Hart, the largest firm based in the Mountain West, expanded into Nevada in 2006. This combination brings together many of the leading lawyers in Nevada and the Mountain West to provide enhanced legal services across the region.

Davis, Graham & Stubbs’ loss is Anadarko’s gain as Sherry Bursey has elected to give the in-house gig a try and join Jeff Fiske, Keith Crouch and the rest of the legal staff at Anadarko Petroleum. Bursey will be transitioning from her environmental practice into more traditional oil and gas work. IN THE NEWS Law Week Colorado, in its May 26 edition, featured a front page article on David Erickson and his new book, Early Justice and the Formation of the Colorado Bar. The book, in hardback, is scheduled for June publication through CBA–CLE. DECEASED Lynn Lehmann, 67, passed away May 17. He was a current member of the CBA and DBA since 1973. He was also a member of the Juvenile section and a former member of the Family law section. John "Jack" Carraher, 74, passed away May 27. He was a member of the CBA, DBA, Business, Real Estate and Trust & Estate since 1959. Walter "Bill" Steele, 85, passed away May 27. He was a member of the CBA and DBA since 1949 and was given Honorary Life membership in 1999. He was one of the founding partners of White & Steele. Richard D. Greengard, 63, of Isaacson Rosenbaum, passed away on May 15. He was a member of the CBA, DBA, Judicial Liaison and Real Estate since 1970. He was also a member of the Douglas/Elbert local bar association since 1996.
