Letter to the Editor

Thank you for printing Charlton Carpenter’s great tribute to Royal Rubright. He was not only the dean of Colorado real estate lawyers, but a wonderful gentleman, as well. Royal personified all that is good about lawyering. It was my good fortune to meet him in the late 1960s, when I worked with him on a legal matter. After that, on those rare occasions when I had an issue involving property law, he was invariably willing and happy to help. His firm handled my mother’s estate very competently and for far less than the usual fee. He often came to our Christmas parties, not so much to mingle with our insurance industry clients or to imbibe, but simply to wish my partner and me a very Merry Christmas. I am deeply envious of Mr. Carpenter for having had the superb experience of practicing law with Royal Rubright for many years.
