Lawyers Who Rock: The Band: Babihed, The Attorney: James Foltmer by Matthew Crouch ![]()
As the lead singer of long-time Denver punk band Babihed, Foltmer took over the lead vocals for the band in 1992 from Mike "Machine Gun" Elkerton. Babihed took a hiatus from 1996 until 2003, during which time Foltmer went to law school and worked in the 15th Judicial District as a Deputy District Attorney. Babihed’s current lineup includes Jim "Jimmy Lightning" Foltmer on lead vocals, Mike "Machine Gun" Elkerton on guitar, Bill "the Rake" Houston on bass (who’s being covered by Mike Mayhem during Bill’s present hiatus), and Pete Sake on drums. Babihed is available for weddings, bar mitzvahs, and meetings of homeowner’s associations. Samples of music from their (hopefully) soon-to-be-released CD can be found at Babihed references can be found throughout Westword’s history, having been named in the early ’90s "Best Rock and Roll Soap Opera" in Westword’s "Best of Denver," as well as a nod in the 2006 "Best Of." Babihed’s long history includes opening for Korn at their first show in Denver at the Mercury Café, opening for the Cherry Popping Daddies before they were a swing band, and having played at KTCL first "Big Adventure" concert. Foltmer focuses his practice of law on collection of homeowner’s assessments and joined Winzenberg, Leff, Purvis & Payne in 2005. He also married this spring to a long-time fan and computer genius, Tina. He now has two cats. Back | ||||||||
