Lawyers League Basketball

Lawyers League Basketball will kick off the 2005–2006 season after Thanksgiving. The season will run for two weeks in December and pick up again in January, continuing through early March with the division championships. Team captains from last year will be receiving registration and sign-up information by mid-October. The number of divisions, sites and nights are to be determined. Team entry fee is expected to be $600–$700, pending final facility costs. The registration deadline is Nov. 11.

DBA–CLE for October

2005 Fall Workers’ Compensation Update is Oct. 14, 8:30 a.m.–4:50 p.m. at the Westin Westminster. This program is guaranteed to offer important information for every level of practitioner. The morning kicks off with a general session. After lunch, you decide which track works best for you. Track I covers the nuts and bolts of workers’ compensation and Track II offers in-depth instruction and guidance on the latest workers’ compensation issues. Tuition is $179 for Workers’ Compensation Section members; $199 for CBA members; and $229 for non-members. Seven general and 1.2 ethics CLE credits.

2005 Employment Law Conference is Oct. 20–21, 8:30 a.m.– 5:15 p.m. at the Denver Doubletree Hotel. The most comprehensive program of its kind in the Rocky Mountain region is filled with outstanding topics focusing on the hottest employment issues. Updates on tried and true topics such as discrimination, termination and privacy also are included. Tuition for Labor & Employment Law Section members: 2 days, $279 or 1 day, $179; CBA, ACCA or Society of Human Resources members: 2 days, $299 or 1 day, $199; non-member: 2 days, $329 or 1-day, $229. 16 general CLE credits.

Law Club: Ethics Revue is Oct. 27, Matinee Show (1–4 p.m.) and Dinner Show (6–9:30 p.m.) at the Denver Hyatt Regency, 1750 Welton St. Imagine the Ethics Committee and the Law Club in unholy alliance. Now you don’t have to — this exciting NEW program blends the uniquely humorous musical skills of the Law Club with the remarkably insightful and thought-provoking oratorical talents of members of the CBA Ethics Committee. Tuition for the matinee show is $129 for CBA members; $159 for non-members; and dinner show tuition is $159 for CBA members; $179 for non-members. Catholic Lawyers Guild

The Catholic Lawyers Guild of Colorado will hold a dinner to benefit the Franciscan Friends of the Poor on Nov. 14, 6 p.m., at Oliveto Cucina Italiana at 3355 S. Yarrow St. in Lakewood. The Franciscan Friends of the Poor feeds between 60 and 70 people each day. They have one shower, and a washer and dryer available for use. The group broke ground in July for a new building, which will have more accommodations and will potentially help hundreds of people each day.
