MDA Lock-Up Nov. 3

Put that law degree to work and get your friends and collegues out of jail (or volunteer to be the inmate) at the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Lock-Up on Friday, Nov. 3 at the Wynkoop Brewery from 5-7 p.m. This Young Lawyers Division-sponsored program raised more than $45,000 for muscular dystrophy patients last year. Bar Exam Duel In August, Bar Exam Refresher teacher John Moye challenged Docketeer Craig Eley to a Bar Exam Duel. Literary Anthology

Submissions sought for a DBA/CBA anthology of short stories by Colorado lawyers. Send your no-more-than-3,000-word story to DBA/CBA Literary Anthology, c/o Karen Bries, 1900 Grant St., Ninth Floor, Denver, CO 80203. If you are already moderately famous, feel free to submit a previously published story. Entries will be determined by a committee. Submissions are due Dec. 31. DBA President Susan Smith Fisher addresses a group of reporters at the annual "Covering Colorado's State Courts: A Media Class on Court Process and Open Records." About 30 reporters came to the session, which featured presentations from Chief Justice Mary Mullarkey, Judge Larry Naves, Judge James Breese and DA Bill Ritter. The presentations encompassed open meetings, records, the judicial system and what goes through a judge's mind when deciding a sentence.

Winetasting to Benefit Legal Aid
