Committees & Departments ![]() Winter Festival! Winter Festival (formerly Christmas in January) is rapidly approaching! The event will be Jan. 17, at Denver Health and Human Services. The DBA YLD is still looking for donations of all kinds, as well as volunteers to help sort toys in the evening on Jan. 16, and to assist in the event on Jan. 17. If you are interested in helping make this year’s event for Denver’s foster children a most memorable occasion, please contact Megan Brynhildsen at meganb@thlaw.net.
‘Legal Night at the Center’ CLE To thank the volunteers who have given their time and expertise to the Legal Night at the Center, the DBA YLD is hosting a free CLE, “Legal Night at the Center: Practical Tips for the Pro Bono Attorney,” on Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 4-7 p.m. at 1900 Grant St., ninth floor (three general credits, including one ethics are anticipated). The DBA YLD offers this CLE free to those who volunteer AND to those who agree to volunteer at Legal Night once during the upcoming year. Legal Night is held the third Tuesday of each month, from 5:30-8 p.m., when attorneys and paralegals provide legal information to the community. The CLE will provide some practical advice regarding pro bono services, ethics, landlord/tenant, and immigration issues. To RSVP, contact Dipak Patel at dpatel@aclu-co.org (preferred) or (303) 777-5482.
Seniors Holiday Party Join your friends and colleagues for a hot lunch and lots of holiday cheer! All DBA seniors, “65 or better,” are invited to attend this annual event. RSVP by sending a check for $12, payable to the DBA, to Lindsay Packard, 1900 Grant St., Suite 900, Denver, CO 80203.
Toastmasters Club Ever yearned to be a better speaker? A Toastmasters Club has been proposed for the bar association—to meet monthly at the bar offices. A preliminary meeting will be held in February to discuss the program. Experienced speakers and former members of other Toastmasters Clubs are invited to attend this planning session. Toastmasters offers a supportive environment in which members can improve their speaking skills specifically for their practices, the bar’s speakers’ bureau and CLE presentations. For complete information about the proposed CBA-CLE Toastmasters Club, and to register to receive information about the February meeting, visit www. wikiwebs.com/cle. Members can register their interest at this site to participate.
